Poison Prevention Awareness Month

As many may already know, March is Poison Prevention Awareness Month. At Barkworthies, we consider the safety of our pets of the utmost importance. The stories are everywhere – pet treat recalls, pesticides in pet products – it is all very overwhelming and disturbing for dog owners. It is our mission to provide the best quality of life to dogs.

“We believe that simpler is better,” Bill Chilian, marketing vice president of Barkworthies said. “So we stress single-ingredient nutrition, never using additives, preservatives or anything artificial.”

Within the last six months alone, we’ve seen numerous companies issue recalls on jerky treats & pet foods. It’s why we take the safety of our products so seriously at Barkworthies. All of our products go through rigorous testing for Salmonella and E. Coli. As mentioned before, we never use any additives or preservatives in our products. In fact, the majority of the items we produce are single-ingredient products.

We wanted to share with our fans the following information from the ASPCA -

This offers a number to reach the animal poison control center and offers many tips on what to do if your pet is ever poisoned. Regardless of our careful feeding and treating of our pets, hazards are everywhere. Companion animals don't realize anti-freeze is poisonous -- they just think it tastes great. Electrical cords often look like fun chew toys. And the kitchen and garage are full of delicious "treats" to get into.

So despite all of the dangers that lie in everyday life for our pups, we recognize the importance of making our fans feel confident about the products they receive from us. Barkworthies is and always will be a company that takes great pride in providing safe, high-quality treats and chews for your dogs.
